Biography for Sean M. Finerty, Esq.
Mr. Finerty is an associate of The Alvarez Firm, a law corporation, where he provides counsel on business, real estate and land use transactions, and estate planning. Working for a small, local government attorney's office and representing clients in small law firms, Mr. Finerty developed a unique ability to see challenges from several points of view, and propose solutions that accommodate the needs of all parties.
The Alvarez Firm assists business owners and managers at all stages of a business's life cycle, from advice on forming a corporation to guidance in selling a business the founders spent their life's hard work developing. The firm is committed to providing the best possible outcome for each client and matter given all of the existing circumstances.
Mr. Finerty developed an insider's familiarity in land use law, including conditional use permits and land use disputes, while working in the Office of the Town Attorney in Los Gatos, Calif. During his tenure, he drafted and reviewed Town ordinances and resolutions, as well as prepared Town staff reports and court filings. In addition, he administered property loss and personal injury claims for and against the Town, coordinating between Town departments and the Association of Bay Area Governments. In addition, he worked as a legal assistant in the Law Office of Reg. J. Lormon in Los Gatos, Calif. and for Jon J. Campisi, Attorney at Law (Santa Clara, Calif.). Consistent with his great passion for sports, Mr. Finerty worked for the Santa Clara University Athletic Department in media relations, marketing and promotion, and with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer.
Mr. Finerty earned both his bachelor's degree in English and his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, Calif. He was admitted to the California State Bar and to the United States District Court, Northern District of California, in 2008.
